Australian support for initiatives to reduce childhood obesity

A poll of over 1000 Australians found 85% agree that unhealthy eating habits are a major problem for Australian children and 75% agree we have to do more to lower their intake of fatty, sugary and salty foods or they will live shorter lives than their parents.

Over 50% believe that regulation of food marketing to children on television and social media is not an overreaction and about the same proportion say it is not ok for junk food and sugary drink companies to sponsor sport. 77% of people surveyed supported a compulsory health star rating on food and 50% support a tax on junk food and sugary drinks.
