Adelaide council investigating banning junk food advertising at bus shelters near schools

The ABC has reported that the City of Marion council in South Australia is investigating if it can ban junk food advertising at bus shelters near schools.

A City of councillor was driving passed a school when he saw an ad that featured a school boy eating fried chicken. With high child obesity rates and fast food popular with teenage boys he decided to investigate if council could control content of ads near schools.

A report is being prepared for the council.
